Internal Milestones
Generation Peace Academy provides participants with guidance and experiences carefully formulated to accompany an extensive education plan. This plan helps to foster the participants’ growth in six areas, encompassing:
1. Character
Sincerity. Humility. Gratitude. These are a few of the encouraged attributes that, when practiced, show God’s Word in action. Character growth is the foundation on which participants can take individual responsibility to grow their lives of faith-in-practice.
2. Shift in Internal Value System
Through guidance and fundraising training, participants reflect on the essence of their value system. They become aware that one’s outlook and disposition affects the quality of their experiences. Participants resolve to begin or authenticate their personal relationships with God.
3. Logos and Unification Principles
Participants receive education concerning biblical figures and events while studying the Unification Principle—a fusion of Abrahamic and Eastern religion largely based on the biblical narratives. By means of studying and re-teaching the content, participants elevate their intellectual understanding of God’s Word.
4. Application of Principles
With a foundational understanding of the Divine Principle, participants now work to apply its teachings substantially. They begin to acknowledge the importance of viewing their lives from a higher perspective, diligently striving to embody God’s unconditional love and living authentically.
5. Living for the Sake of Others
As their heart for their parents, brothers and sisters and their understanding of God grows deeper, participants begin to return the love and care that they received. They grow to relate with their families and society as they have interacted with their GPA family— a connection based on altruistic love and respect for elders. Through their experiences, participants acknowledge the importance of service in local and international communities. Eventually this can translate into the realization of a world based on this culture of love, starting from within their own families.
6. Becoming a Global Citizen
Through experiencing a wide variety of lifestyles, meeting people from all walks of life, and traveling across the United States and beyond, participants’ worldview is broadened tremendously. As the year progresses, they grow an awareness of the needs and improvements that can be made from their own communities to the society at large, and begin to take an interest in making a positive impact using their own unique skills and talents.
As a result, participants are naturally led to discover their personal relationship with God. Generation Peace Academy aims to create citizens who desire to enhance their faith and realize their potential to positively impact the world. The education plan lays a foundation for participants to continue their lives of faith well after graduating the program.
